Lovely ‘Different’ Fragrance, June 3, 2013

Always on the lookout for something different, Nest products fit the bill. I am not a ‘flowery’ fragrance fan so this Moss & Mint delivers “green” notes with a brief “pop” of fruit. Unlike other fragrances, you will NOT smell yourself coming and going on the streets and most will not know what you are wearing, which I love.

This almost is a unisex fragrance… Almost. It’s really strong, 1 spray is more than enough. The scent is clean with a minty undertone. It’s nice, but find it too strong to wear to the office 🙁
The bottle is HUGE though, so I imagine it will last forever since you only need 1 spray. I noticed the scent really stuck with me too, it took a while to fade.
Don’t get me wrong, this smells very very nice, but I’m on the fence. It’s almost too masculine for a woman to wear, and too feminine for a man.
I’m using this on the weekends and hoping for the best

Very natural fragrance that has a complex development, very earthy and spicy, December 18, 2014

I received this fragrance free as a holiday gift from a friend. I felt it was an extremely thoughtful gift, as my friend knows that I love the exotic woods and oils like patchouli and sandalwood, and strong oriental spicy fragrances.

I adore the glass bottle. It’s simple and elegant, and quite nice to hold and use. It looks and feels expensive.

The fragrance is quite earthy, and might be too earthy for some.

I think it could be considered unisex, and at first it is quite masculine. The top note of eucalyptus comes across quite strong for about 10 minutes in the initial stage with about the same punch as the bergamot, and can be a bit pungent. My first ten minutes of experiencing this fragrance was a complex movement of memories of older much loved male relatives smoking pipes, my first experience of Ma Griffe (It was that bergamot), German cafes, and crushing cardamon and pepper for stews, camping, and digging in the earth in the fall. All pleasant things for me but perhaps not what I would normally look for in a fragrance. Still, quite an experience.

As the development commences, it becomes much more subtle, warm, and deliciously spicy, with the eucalyptus fading almost completely away, and the Bergamot gets in the back seat and simmers down. On me, the pachouli is the predominant middle note, with a less dominant amber only arising to take the lead after the dry down stage has began, after about an hour.

I do enjoy the top note though, in a way. Eucalyptus has a way of clearing my mind and always seems invigorating, it’s just very competitive with the other notes in fragrance initially.

My husband loves it. He’s a fan of earthy, spicy scents and this one definitely is that. It is a very NATURAL perfume, and I’d almost call it bohemian or witchy (in a good way). I don’t think they’ve used a chemical fragrance (artificial replica oil) in it- I can’t detect one and I usually have a decent nose for sniffing them out.

So as every lady online knows, your skin care regimen evolves and changes, and it’s often difficult to find new products that work as well as your old, but after a while your skin’s PH balance gets used to the products and poof–it’s time to find new product for yourself. I heard that witch hazel was good to use as a toner as long as it is paraben-free, and decided to do a search to find the best. Well, in the expensive all organic deli near my house, I found this brand as the only one that wasn’t full of alcohol and paraben, but it was so expensive I couldn’t bear to buy it even though I read online that it was a good one. This is where the internet always comes in these days.

I found it on Amazon for nearly half the cost as the one in my deli. So I ordered two, and had them shipped to my apartment. After first use, I felt like it was a little too harsh with my cetaphil, so I tried it with TreeActiv+ Tea Tree Oil Acne Solution for Advanced Acne Treatment – All Natural Acne Spot Treatment – Blemishes Gone or Your Money Back! that my sister bought me (also on Amazon, we really can use the internet for everything, huh?) and this was a way better combination. Since the Tea Tree face wash and oil are richer in the oils that my combination skins, the witch hazel acts as a sort of in between step for the two that makes sure that it isn’t too much oil, and you still get the moisturizing aspect. I also use a [TreeActiv Anti Acne & Rosacea Treatment Sulfur Mask Plus Rhassoul, Bentonite Clay Mask with Witch Hazel & Aloe Vera – Refreshing Lemon Scent (1 Jar) that does the trick as well. I definitely recommend using them all together if you have combination skin, the tea tree products moisturize my skin and fight acne, and the witch hazel acts as an astringent, making sure my skin isn’t too oily, and also fighting the acne. Bonus: all of these products smell amazing, so score on that!

I found this when I was searching for just the right natural pre-wedding skin care routine last year. Of course, I wanted my skin to be healthy and glowing on my wedding day so I did lots of research to find my ideal routine. After some trial and error, I came up with the following products:

    1) Dr. Woods Pure Black Soap – use to wash face twice daily
    2) Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel – use as toner twice daily
    3) Burts Bees Radiance Day Lotion with SPF 15 – use in the a.m.
    4) Desert Essence 100% Natural Jojoba Oil – use as moisturizer before bed
    5) St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Control – use to gently exfoliate twice a week
    6) Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask – use after exfoliating once a week in acne-prone areas only

This combination of products really has given me the best skin of my life. I did get a zit on the day before my wedding, but that was from stress and I don’t believe that any products I used could have avoided that. It wasn’t huge though so I easily covered it with makeup. Other than that one zit though, my skin looked very nice. Also, after the wedding, I started skimping on my routine and did begin breaking out much more often and lost that healthy glow. Once I started back up with religiously following my routine, my skin is very smooth and nice again.

I love that the Thayers Witch Hazel is credited for providing younger-looking skin. I am only 24 so I can’t speak to that, but love knowing that something I use twice everyday is likely going to slow the aging process of my skin.

I’m addicted! totally addicted. I ran out this week and couldn’t bring myself to throw out the bottle until the new bottle arrived in the mail, hoping I could eek out a few more skin nourishing droplets.

you have got to try it! I have insane combination skin, with a forehead that gets so greasy you’d think someone had drained 6 pounds of bacon on it and cheeks that get dry, red and patchy if the wind blows a little too hard on them. I dampen a cotton pad with this and stroke it across my skin, and the results are amazing – cheeks are softened, forehead is cleared of shiny greasiness and relieved of the bumps that can so often be found there. it’s alcohol free and doesn’t dry out my skin, either. the smell is an artificial rose smell, which may not be for everyone, but others have remarked that it has that clean soap smell instead. the last bottle I bought lasted me for about 9 months of once daily swabbings, plus whatever portion my daughter has used, so it’s also a bargain, even counting the shipping cost!

I’ve been having a lot of trouble finding good products made by companies that don’t do any animal testing, so was I relieved to find that the manufacturer’s website states that “all thayers products are vegetarian and never tested on animals”. yay!
